Wes Craven talks Scream 5
You will notice a Scream 5 according to director Wes Craven, despite a disappointing box office performance for Scream 4."Yes. The options that you'll see [a Scream 5]. It is something which Bob Weinstein desires to do. He's a inclination to complete what he desires to do. Therefore I am inclined to think about that you'll see [another follow-up]. Whether I'll be a part of it or else? I am unsure. My contract generates for me the initial look. Once they show me something that's really wonderful? Clearly I'll be a part of it," Craven told Movieweb. The director also confirmed that Scream 4 was stated to become the beginning of a completely new trilogy for your franchise: "Beginning [Scream 4], the initial meeting I'd with Kevin Williamson he did sketch out a Scream 5 and 6. The idea was that individuals i did so the initial in the new trilogy. We required to wait to determine as we made enough money on each film to produce the following viable. When happens, people two will build up the concepts plus an idea that's worth fulfilling."This is also true the conclusion of Scream 4 indicate where the fifth film goes?InchI will have to kill you essentially stated. It's better by having an ending that you can't tell where it will go next compared to an ending that you go, 'Oh, this is the hook for your follow-up. This is the hook for an additional one.' We felt it absolutely was simpler to permit the crowd speculate instead of have a number of these clues put in their lap. It is not determined by not smart enough. We're clever as of this, let's just put it by doing this,Inch he mentioned.

Whitney: TV Review
Whitney Cummings' greatest mistake here might have been letting NBC make her show a multi-camera affair, filled with (another) excessively generous live audience.our editor recommends'Whitney': 10 Things to understand about the NBC ComedyFall TV Dying Pool: Will 'Charlie's Angels,' 'Whitney' or 'How to become a Gentleman' Be Axed First? Cumming's stock in trade is sass that traffics in wise banter and low-brow crowd-pleasing. Meaning a few of the lines she authored for Whitney work yet others appear all-too-easy. It's difficult to inform just how much NBC really trusts Cummings (who also co-produced 2 Broke Women on CBS). She's a new also it appears like the reins continue to be on. For instance, the pilot really includes a clever scene that follows on the idea that Whitney and her live-in boyfriend Alex (Chris D'Elia) have become sexually stagnant over their years together. So she buys a slutty nurse costume to surprise him after which, while vamping, causes it to be very real by requesting his insurance card and asking him to complete forms. The scene works right until Alex does an average sitcom pratfall taking his pants off and knocks themself out. Ugh. PHOTOS: NBC's Year Television Shows Many of the success of Whitney may hinge on whether people discover her likeable or otherwise. But you will find fundamental issues holding back the show too -- past the multi-camera fakeness from it all. First, the premise appears to become that Whitney and Alex aren't married and they are happy this way. Yes, and? Apparently there's no and. Add in stock figures (happy new enthusiasts the bitter divorcee the super horny single guy) that attempt to play up Whitney and Alex's shocking dismissal of convention (ahem), plus you've got rapport reveal that's hung around the "we're not married" nail. Maybe that's why they require that audience cackling without anyone's knowledge? Hopefully, future episodes will improve. Whitney Cummings NBC Whitney
Teaser Trailer For 1911 Online
Jackie Chan is revolting!Marking both hundredth anniversary in the Xinghai Revolution, as well as the hundredth movie due to its director and star, a trailer for Jackie Chan's historic epic 1911 just turned up online at Apple. It's Chan's first film as director since 1998 (although he shared behind-the-camera duties with Zhang Li), and co-stars Chan's boy Jaycee, Li Bingbing, Winston Chao and Joan Chen. Chan plays Huang Xing, the latest leader and eight fingered general , who, through numerous violent uprisings, was instrumental in overthrowing the Quing Empire and creating China just like a republic. It's abnormally serious stuff for your generally knockabout Chan, but round the evidence of the clip, all the better with this. Clearly a piece of love for your director, six several days of punishing production finally engrossed in March this year. 1911 will open the Tokyo, japan, japan Worldwide Film Festival on October 22, and will receive a U . s . States release (within the full form, unlike John Woo's superficially similar Red-colored-colored High high cliff) on October 12. The Uk awaits to begin dating ?....

The Appearance of Wang (L'arrivo di Wang)
Similar to an overextended "Twilight Zone" episode but nonetheless great for fun, Italian low-budgeter "The Appearance of Wang" works with an amusing sci-fi premise. Written and helmed by siblings Antonio and Marco Manetti ("Zora la vampira"), story involves a professional Italian translator contacted for any highly improbable assignment that tests her concepts and feeling of trust. Pic should turn a modest profit in your area but will not get to much style offshore, although it could garner a small popularity in ancillary. Rome resident Gaia (Francesca Cuttica) is summoned by government agent Curti (Ennio Fantastichini) to translate Mandarin into Italian in a location so secret she's blindfolded on the way. Then, she's not really permitted to determine Wang (voiced by Li Yong), the individual she's interpretation for, making the task doubly difficult. Works out Wang's really an alien from another planet, who properly learned Mandarin after determining it had been probably the most broadly spoken language on the planet. Disgusted in the rough treatment Curti and Co. hand out, Gaia attempts to free Wang, there is however another twist available. Cheap but cheerful effects enhance pic's pleasingly schlocky feel. Paul Williams: Still Alive
A 3W Films presentation from the Mambo Entertainment production. (Worldwide sales: WME Entertainment, La.) Produced by Jim Czarnecki, Stephen Kessler, Mike Wilkins, David Zieff. Executive producers, Robert Cohen, Lesa Lakin. Co-producer, Alicia Van Couvering. Directed, put together by Stephen Kessler. With: Paul Williams, Stephen Kessler, Mariana Williams, Chris Caswell.A fascinating factor happened to Stephen Kessler on his approach to finishing "Paul Williams: Still Alive," his affectionate portrait in the diminutive dynamo who loomed improbably large just like a pop-culture luminary through the seventies. After serendipitously trying to find his childhood idol, and beginning production which he clearly intended -- initially, no less than -- just like a melancholy ode with a faded star, Kessler wound up forging an unlikely friendship and, on the way, developing a stronger, much much deeper plus much more idiosyncratic documentary. Pic could click with baby senior citizens and Gen-Xers in a number of formats, but nostalgia will probably be only part of its appeal. For the benefit of people who up-to-date in the finish of: With the '70s, Paul Williams acquired fame and fortune just like a prodigiously prolific songwriter, penning enduringly popular standards for instance "Wet Days and Mondays," "We now have Only Begun," "I won't Keep going for a Day Without you" and "Only a classic-Fashioned Love Song" for that type of Three Dog Evening, the Craftsmen, Helen Reddy and, no kidding, David Bowie. He written for movies (producing Oscars for "Evergreen," co-written with Barbra Streisand for "A Star makes the worldInch and "The Rainbow Connection" for "The Muppet Movie"), had success just like a solo recording artist, and came wide exposure just like a film and TV actor. Kessler covers all of this plus much more in "Paul Williams: Still Alive," and duly notes that, like every lots of '70s stars, Williams spent many of the eighties and 1990's in the spotlight while recouping in the personal and professional meltdown fueled by booze and medications. A TV-commercial director whose feature credits include "Vegas Vacation" and "The Independent," Kessler immediately cops to like a longtime fan of his subject. He unveils that, just like a chubby kid maturing in Queens, N.Y., he felt a distinctive affinity while using borderline-elfin Williams and deeply empathized while using songwriter's works about loneliness and longing. When he fortunately discovers that Williams continues to be alive and undertaking, Kessler has mixed feelings: He's glad to find out his idol managed to get his crash-and-burn excess, but just a little sad to look for the first kind celebrity now playing gigs in hotel lounges and lesser Vegas venues. Williams, however, doesn't notice as sad whatsoever. There's an amazing dynamic at play throughout "Still Alive," as Williams -- sometimes nicely, sometimes sternly -- frequently won't fulfill Kessler's anticipation, and progressively prods the filmmaker into developing a movie far unique of the primary one he set to create. In the beginning, Williams convinces Kessler being an onscreen participant, proclaiming that it may be difficult, otherwise silly, for him to create believe you be unaware from you following him. Later, when Kessler quizzes Williams in regards to the low points of his '70s superstardom, Williams bristles within the critique implicit in Kessler's queries. "I appear like this is often a search that we haven't felt within you before," Williams button button snaps. "Which I can not stay at home.Inch It's greatly to Kessler's credit, also to his film's benefit, he's incorporated this together with other moments that illustrate him as trying too much to correct his subject in a few preconceived scenario, and Williams as without effort battling facile labeling. The Two males don't really begin to bond until they share a six-hour bus ride using a possibly terrorist-filled jungle throughout Williams' tour in the Philippines. Nevertheless the give-and-take between subject and filmmaker always might be the pic's primary focus. Williams readily confesses to frequently like a drug-addled show-off throughout his '70s heyday -- inside the pic's uncomfortable sequences, he's noticeably pained while he unwillingly watches video of his spoiled-child arrogance while guest-hosting "The Merv Griffin Show" -- which he could not make any excuses to make the first and foremost from the perks that incorporated fame. "Being different is difficult,In . according to him. "Being special is addicting." As Kessler themselves observes, there's a tension created throughout "Paul Williams: Still Alive" by opposite perspectives: Because the director is searching in a existence to produce a documentary, Williams -- who's living that existence -- is searching forward. Nevertheless the combination of people viewpoints produces an engrossing and satisfying pic, one that'll be loved even by individuals who've no time before learned about its subject. Tech values are acceptable.Camera (color, HD), Vern Nobles editor, David Zieff co-editor, Jonathan Del Gatto production designer, Perry Andelin Blake appear, Marcos Contreras. Examined at Toronto Film Festival (Real to Reel), Sept. 10, 2011. Running time: 84 MIN. Contact the number newsroom at news@variety.com

Brad Pitt Insisted Gwyneth Paltrow's Head Stay in the Box in 'Se7en'
Brad Pitt has been quite chatty lately (guess he really wants you to see 'Moneyball'), and he's now revealed that he nearly bailed on 'Se7en' when the producers got cold feet and wanted to -- spoiler alert -- put something other than Gwyneth Paltrow's head in the box during the final, shocking scene. "I will do it on one condition: The head stays in the box," the actor says he demanded before signing on. "Put in the contract that the head stays in the box." And his second condition: "He's got to shoot the killer in the end. He doesn't do the 'right' thing, he does the thing of passion." Those conditions were both met, but when test screenings began, apparently some execs got cold feet. "They go, 'You know, he would be much more heroic if he didn't shoot John Doe -- and it's too unsettling with the head in the box. We think maybe if it was the dog's head in the box...'" Obviously, Pitt had his way and David Fincher delivered one of cinema's most memorable movie endings. Relive the horror of "What's in the box?" here. Survivor: South Pacific: 3 Reasons We Already Want to Vote the Vets Off the Island
Benjamin "Coach" Wade, Ozzy Lusth Blindside me once, shame on you. Blindside me twice, shame on me. Blindside me three times? That's what it's coming to on Survivor. The reality series comes back for Season 23 with two new returning favorites, Oscar "Ozzie" Musth and Benjamin "Coach" Wade, in tow. But after the success of Heroes vs. Villains in 2010 and "Boston Rob" Mariano's applauded Road to Redemption last spring, recruiting beloved former players for another tour of duty is becoming standard practice for the aging competition series. But is it really the right move? As much as we enjoy watching the Russell Hantz's and Jerri "Black Widow" Manthey's have to face (and sometimes apologize for) their past power moves and manipulations, are these familiar faces really adding to the game or detracting from it? We look at three reasons it's time to throw the vets' buffs in the fire once and all: Check out our fall preview for galleries, scoop, premiere calendars and more! 3. The newbies don't think for themselves. Yes, the whole point of introducing returning players is to throw a curveball in the rest of the contestants' pre-determined game plans and expectations. But it's not nearly as much fun watching the newbies tough out the almost 40-day shoot when they have one, or possibly even two, expert guides there to possibly hint at what's to come and what they should be doing. Russell helped his tribe in no such way, minus his two allies who were quickly plucked off after he left, but Boston Rob's entire nice-guy routine last season hinged on his appearance as the elder statesmen who knew just what to do, and wasn't afraid to share his wisdom in exchange for alliances. Granted, Boston Rob and Russell still had to adjust to redemption island along with everyone else, but their advantages in the game influenced not just their own game play, but everyone else in the cast, (and not necessarily in a good way.) Get a behind-the-scenes look at Survivor: South Pacific 2. How will the first-timers shine? One of the biggest reasons Survivor keeps bringing back veterans is the same reason it may be hurting its own franchise: star power. Yes, a familiar face not only gets rabid fans but also those fair-weather Survivor fans who need a big hook (redemption island), a hint of nostalgia, or both, to be enticed back. Next to the one-two punch of Ozzie and Coach, how are the 16 fresh-faced cast members supposed to find their time to shine? Redemption Island produced one breakout star next to Russell and Boston Rob, but don't think Phillip Sheppard didn't work for it. (Getting into racially charged arguments, wearing feathers on your head and doing it while practically baring all is no easy feat!). As long as returning players are in the game, it will always be that much harder to breed the next generation of Survivor fan favorites. And then who will be around to partake in the next All-Star edition (as evidenced by Colby Donaldson's underwhelming performance on Heroes vs. Villains, these kids aren't getting any younger). Meet the Survivor: South Pacific cast 1. Some veterans just repeat their past mistakes. As much as we would like to think that every returning player is smart enough to change his up game the second (or third, or fourth) time around, that is not always the case. Take legendary villain Russell, who returned for Redemption Island so soon after Heroes vs. Villains that he still had Samoa sand in his shoes. After the attention he received in Seasons 19 and 20, it seemed obvious he would need a new strategy for Season 22. Unfortunately, Russell tried to play the exact same game and not only wound up going home fairly early, but made for a boring addition to the cast. For every "Boston Rob" - who transforms from villain to sly nice guy - there are a few Russell's who are too cocky and stubborn to change things up. Survivor: South Pacific premieres on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 8/7c on CBS. Are you excited Ozzie and Coach are back? Or are you over the returning vets? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Mysterious Ways: Watch the Trailer for U2 Doc 'From the Sky Down' (VIDEO)
"Making 'Achtung Baby' was the reason we're still here now." So says a contemplative Bono at the tail end of the trailer for 'From the Sky Down,' a new documentary about the recording of U2's seminal album which opens the Toronto International Film Festival on Thursday night. Glad you made the album, Bono! But will 'From the Sky Down' offer something other than expected 'Behind the Music'-like platitudes and foggy nostalgia? Probably? One thing that seems to set 'Sky Down' apart from usual band propaganda films is the look. There is some fairly inventive animation presented in the trailer, which calls to mind something like 'Persepolis' (or the story of the Deathly Hallows in 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1,' if you prefer). There's also the director: Davis Guggenheim, who won an Oscar for 'An Inconvenient Truth' and was also responsible for last year's 'Waiting for 'Superman''. The good news is that viewers won't have to wait very long to weigh in on 'From the Sky Down'; Showtime picked up the doc earlier this year and will premiere it on Oct. 29. Watch the trailer below and enjoy having "One" stuck in your head for the foreseeable future. Click here for more of Moviefone's coverage from the 36th edition of TIFF. Watch Transformers 3 Megavideo

Three Discovery nets for Schleiff
Etkind Exclusive: Discovery Communications has reorganized three of its cablers -- Investigation Discovery, Planet Green, and Military Channel -- into a single group led by Henry Schleiff. With the creation of a support structure underneath him, Schleiff's title (prexy and g.m. of I.D., Military, and Planet Green) is more clearly one job, instead of three. The company is installing senior execs to head up both Planet Green and Military. Marc Etkind is moving from Discovery's Animal Planet to Planet Green, where he'll lead the net as senior vp of content strategy, and Ed Hersh has been upped to the same position at the Military Channel. Etkind's shows for Animal Planet include "Finding Bigfoot" and "Infested." Prior to working for Discovery Communications, his shingle Pinball produced content for Animal Planet and Discovery, as well as History. Both men will oversee programming development and the day-to-day affairs of their respective networks; Schleiff has had a direct hand in I.D. since its inception, and he will continue to run it directly. The reshuffle officially codifies all of Discovery's solely-owned cable assets into three discrete groups under three execs: Eileen O'Neill handles Discovery, TLC, and Discovery Fit & Health; Marjorie Kaplan oversees Animal Planet and Science, and Schleiff handles the new unit (COO Peter Liguori oversees the company's joint ventures). The new hierarchy has been slowly shifting into place -- Schleiff has been overseeing operations at Military for over a year, and at Planet Green since the beginning of 2011 on an interim basis. For a while, Discovery Communications's smaller networks were simply called the "emerging networks group" in-house. With some nets growing faster than others, though (Discovery chief topper David Zaslav touted I.D.'s growth in particular during last quarter's earnings call), that name doesn't quite fit. Meanwhile, Sara Kozak has been upped to senior vp of production for the group, and Doug Seybert has been promoted to senior vp of marketing.
